Lightning - 07.24.08

I have two words for the weather near Arivaca. FUCK YEAH! We arrived in Arizona just in time for monsoon season. Every day for almost a week straight, we had awesome lightning storms that would pass to the northeast and northwest of us (and a few to the south too). There was so much lightning it was easy to get good shots of it. Despite the fact that I was shooting with a really cheap Canon Powershot model, some of these pictures came out amazing. This batch of images was shot on July 24th 2008 from about 11pm to 12am. I was using a film speed setting of 400, and varying apertures with a 15 second exposure. Be sure to check out the high-res versions. Also, the following night I repeated this exercise using ISO 80 and ISO 100 for some less grainy and higher contrast shots that look much more ominous.
