Lightning south of Tucson

This series was shot with my Nikon 35-70 F2.8 AF lens. I got the lens from my dad when he gave me his old F4 and accessories. It's an older AF lens, which just happens to work great on the new D700. Unfortunately, it does't like to focus at infinity. When manually focusing, you have to set the lens to infinity, then back it off a hair to get it to focus just right, so it took a little practice before any of my landscape shots started coming out in focus. If you zoom in on the full size versions of these images, the detail and sharpness is awesome. Keep in mind that the lens is mounted on a somewhat flimsy tripod that was blowing in a 15-20mph wind. Most shots are between 15 and 30 seconds at about F5.6. Definitely log in and check out the full size versions of these.
